The neighboring nations, Germany and France, have steadily deepened their alliance since the Elysee Treaty of 1963 that laid the foundation for collaboration and friendship. The Goethe-Zentrum and the Alliance Française have celebrated this pivotal moment together annually.
The two organizations, the oldest language and cultural centers in Atlanta, have a long-standing history of sharing office, classroom and event space in Atlanta. Looking to improve outreach within the increasingly global community in Atlanta, both centers have formalized their relationship:
The Alliance Française d'Atlanta and the Goethe-Zentrum Atlanta
are
THE KULTUR ENSEMBLE ATLANTA
Atlanta's FRANCO-GERMAN CULTURAL INSTITUTE
One of nine such centers worldwide, and the only one in the North America, the Franco-German Cultural Center will add to Atlanta’s importance as an international hub for business, entertainment, education, and culture.
With the shared space in Peachtree Center and a satellite in Roswell, the Center capitalizes on synergies that come from representing the cultures and languages of two of Western Europe’s largest economies that are deeply engaged in the local and southeastern regional business, educational and cultural cooperation, experiences and human connection.
Within proximity of various consulates, theaters, universities and other cultural assets, the Franco-German Cultural Center is an important component of the global community that knits together Atlanta’s “international fabric”.
Peachtree Center within the John Portmann landmark accentuates community accessibility, quality and beauty of the Centers' programming. The location provides a venue for cultural, educational, and social events as the home to Atlanta’s two oldest providers of French and German language instruction, as well as for joint cultural programming of the Franco-German Cultural Center.
We look forward to seeing our teachers conducting classes, members playing pétanque on the patio, soccer fans joining a watch party in the auditorium, and event guests gathering for unique cultural events from wine to music, history to travel.

KULTUR ENSEMBLE
FRANCO-GERMAN CULTURAL CENTER
As an independent local 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, Goethe-Zentrum Atlanta continues the legacy of the former Goethe-Institut Atlanta (1976–2007). Altogether, we have served the community across Atlanta and the Southeastern United States through language, culture, outreach and cultural programs for 50 years. For many of these years, we have shared office space with Alliance Française d'Atlanta, an Atlanta institution since 1912.
In 2023, together we officially became KULTUR ENSEMBLE!
One of only nine such organizations worldwide, and the only one in North America.
In partnership with the Alliance Française d’Atlanta, we offer joint cultural events, heritage programming, a framework for European cultural events, and immersive experiences for all.
