Oliver Gorf

Oliver Gorf

Originally from Hamburg and the North of Germany, Oliver is the son of bookstore owners. From early on they garnered his interest in literature, history, and culture. Gorf studied Socioeconomics, integrating Sociology, Business, Jurisprudence, and Economics, at the University of Hamburg.

This interest in integrating different fields of work and knowledge would prove to be his Northstar in work and life alike. He worked as a copy editor at Germany’s largest publishing house, Bauer Verlag. He then carved out a career as a theater playwright, and ultimately became Director of Communications of Hamburg’s Lichthof Theater

After moving to Miami, FL, in 2011, Gorf began a new career as a German language professor at Florida International University and in the Miami-Dade Public School system. His experience made him know the ins and outs of German language acquisition in the USA, across all ages and backgrounds.

In October 2020, in the middle of the Corona epidemic, Oliver moved to Atlanta to become the Executive Director of Goethe-Zentrum Atlanta.

Oliver understands language and the arts as a tool to understand and respect people, to bring them together and to learn from each other.
