Goethe-Zentrum Atlanta, Peachtree 1201 St. NE, 400 Colony Square, Suite 1104

Ever since its 1905 premiere in Dresden, Richard Strauss’s “Salome” has never ceased to shock audiences. Its biblical tale set in the court of King Herod wasn’t performed here in Atlanta for decades!

“Salome” is a short opera, only about 100 minutes long, but packs a wallop of a punch from its first chord until its conclusion. But “Salome” isn’t just a thriller; it retains Strauss’s trademark lyricism, especially for the lead soprano and baritone.

To be taught in English by David Kerr. No pre-existing knowledge of either music or German required.
