COME TOGÄTHER - "FASHION UTOPIA ... Sustainability Connects Fashion Metropolis Atlanta - Berlin - Paris"
*** DON'T MISS -
During the COME TOGÄTHER - Week of the German-speaking Countries,
the KULTUR ENSEMBLE ATL (Goethe-Zentrum & Alliance Francaise) is bringing togäther couture and catalysts from Atlanta, Berlin and Paris!
FASHION UTOPIA dares to look at fashion as a signifier of change through the centuries, across continents, across diverse societies.
Fashion is harnessed as a tool for political activism, turning the runway into a platform to promote women’s issues, civil and human rights, LGBTQ+, and others. Fashion does not thrive in totalitarian regimes.
Fashion is an economic factor in the globalized world. Like many industries, the fashion industry faces sales and supply chain problems, resulting in questionable production conditions and the demand for sustainable, ethical clothing.
We join forces with Sustainable Fashion Week Atlanta and the internationally recognized experts Marte Hentschel and Uwe Westphal from Berlin to present FASHION UTOPIA: a Book Presentation, a photo exhibition, and panel discussions in the context of Atlanta Sustainable Fashion Week; authors, designers, artists, and activists from Europe present their perspectives and discuss with local fashion makers.

Throughout his career as a photographer, Axl Jansen has always put the human dimension over fashion. His recent focus on the Berlin-based PLATTE collective, where he also lives and works, illustrates his growing interest in alternative ways to envision fashion. Thanks to his contribution and striking images of a thriving collective, ‘Fashion Utopia: Berlin - Paris - Atlanta’ becomes a unique exhibition project, which will hopefully inspire communities and provide food for thought.
Jansen is a true collaborator, who envisions overblown egos as a thing of the past. Thanks to his artistic vision, we can start to see a new type of fashion emerge, abandoning the cult of the designer to embrace the power of the collective.
