DISCOVER GERMANY Dialekt Series - Oberschwaben

If you travel in Oberschwaben, or Upper Swabia, a region defined by the southern edge of the Swabian Alb, the beautiful Lake Constance and the soothing Lech river, chances are, you will hear Grissgodd or something alike rather than Guten Tag for a welcome.

Oberschwaben offers a very interesting history, yummy food specialties (turns heads with the word Spätzle!), interesting customs (Alemannic Fasnet, or Fasnacht) - and a very distinctive dialect.

Learn more about a beautiful region of Germany, enjoy a presentation of history, economy, culture, and language, presented by Oberschwaben native and DigitalituM founder Markus Rimmele, supported by our Language Program Coordinator Stefan Bauer.

This interactive session of our Discover Germany Dialekt Series will be held in English with "Oberschwäbisch" dialect and German bits thrown in.

In-person participants will have the chance to sample typical cuisine of the region.

KULTUR ENSEMBLE

FRANCO-GERMAN CULTURAL CENTER

Founded in 1976 as a branch of the Goethe Institut, our organization has served the German-speaking community in Atlanta and the Southeast for more than 45 years. 

As of September 2022, we are officially a KULTUR ENSEMBLE!

1 of 9 globally, and the only in North America, together with the Alliance Francaise d'Atlanta, we are the center for German and French language, culture, heritage and experiences in the heart of Downtown Atlanta.
