Do you need a Goethe certificate for work, study, or a visa? Test with us - Goethe-Institut exams are recognized all over the world! 

Please note: All Goethe and CEFR based language exams are pass/fail exams. There is no progressive grading scale across different levels in any of the exams, and each exam level is meant to provide evidence of your previously acquired language skills at the level you register for. If you need help finding out what exam level matches your language learning background, your ability to comprehend written and auditory information, your active written communication skills, and your verbal presentational and interpersonal communication skills, please contact us at language@goetheatlanta.org with a phone number for a callback and consultation.

We strongly suggest that you familiarize yourself with exam preparation materials and the (free) model exams on the Goethe-Institut website before registering for an exam.

Additional A1, A2, A2 Fit in Deutsch and B1 exam dates will be offered in fall 2024.

If you need an exam outside these dates, we encourage you to visit the website for the Goethe-Institut Washington and see if their offerings fit your needs. 

Review the overview of Goethe-Institut exam and course levels offered to find out which exam level is appropriate for your German skills. More detailed information about the Goethe-Institut exams and sample tests can be found on our central site. In Atlanta, we currently offer A1 Fit in Deutsch (age 10 - 16), A2 Fit in Deutsch (age 12-16), A1 Start Deutsch, A2 Zertifikat, B1 Zertifikat, B2 Zertifikat, C1 Zertifikat, and C2 Großes Deutsches Sprachdiplom exams on various dates throughout the calendar year.

Please note: The standard turnaround time for exam results and/or participation certificates is up to 4 business weeks for levels A1-C1 after taking a Goethe-Institut exam at the Goethe-Zentrum Atlanta. C2 results can take up to 6 business weeks. For November testing dates, delays in processing results may occur due to the Christmas holidays. 

We ask that you schedule your exam far enough in advance and to take the process times into consideration. We cannot expedite exam results to accommodate individual requests. Exam results are certified at our regional office before certificates are distributed.

COVID-19 Update:

As of December 2023, we do not require masks or vaccination. If the COVID risk assessment changes by the exam date, you may be required to wear a mask during the exam. Refusal to do so can lead to exclusion from the exam. 

Once you register for an exam on our website, you may cancel your registration up to the date that registration closes, approximately 2 weeks before the exam date, and receive a full refund of your registration fee. After this deadline, your registration is non-refundable. 

If you are sick on exam day, have had COVID symptoms within 10 days of the exam, have a positive COVID test, or have been exposed to COVID, you can take the exam at no additional cost on the next date the exam is offered at Goethe-Zentrum Atlanta.
